Harris Broadcast Communications Achieves Top Registrations7.26.2007CINNCINATI, OH--Harris Corporation has added ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registrations to its long-standing ISO 9001 registration at its Broadcast Communications facilities in Quincy, IL. The registrations were awarded to the company's manufacturing center for Harris Corporation's global line of analog and digital radio and television broadcast transmission systems, and reflect the company's commitment to the global environment and worker health and safety. Harris has already achieved substantial reductions in the use and disposal of hazardous chemicals, as well as energy and water use savings across the company. And, its worker safety programs continue to reduce the rates of work-related injuries and illnesses. The company's dedication to the environment was recently recognized with its 4th Illinois Governors Pollution Prevention Award since 1993. The award recognizes the quality and continued improvement of the pollution prevention and waste reduction programs at the Quincy facility. "Harris is focused on the international marketplace, and the addition of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 registrations shows our commitment to meeting the demands of our customers worldwide," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of Harris Broadcast Communications. "Our customers are facing new and demanding regulatory requirements and we are dedicated to helping them meet those emerging challenges. The recognition of our compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 is a clear demonstration of our overall commitment to excellence as well as our pledge to serve as responsible citizens and trusted neighbors in our communities and the world at large."
